What to Expect
Every church is different, so what should you expect when visiting or attending Redeemer Lakeland?
What do I wear?
Our church doesn’t have a dress code. We have people who dress up and others who come more casual. You’re welcome to come dressed in what you feel comfortable wearing.
What about my kids?
At Redeemer we LOVE kids! We also think kids seeing and interacting with their parents in worship is a powerful and helpful thing. So, in order to encourage families to sit and worship together, children are kept in the service until after worship songs are over and the offering is collected. After the children have had the opportunity to participate in the offering, those three and under can be taken to the nursery, where our friendly, qualified nursery volunteers will take excellent care of them! Children, 4-years-old thru 2nd grade may go to the classroom next to the nursery for catechism training, if so desired, but are welcome to remain in the sanctuary.
If you are a parent and are worried your child will be a distraction DON’T BE! Loud “whispering”, occasional whining, fidgeting…all things that do not bother us at Redeemer. We do have tables available in the back for families with young children with paper and crayons for busy little hands.
We hope to encourage you to use this time to teach your child to actively participate in worship. Sing the worship songs into their ear. Point to the words in the bulletin. Model praying. Give them key words to listen for during the sermon. Use the note sheets that are provided just outside the entrance to the sanctuary (under the crown of thorns). Encourage them to use the provided paper and crayons on the back tables to draw pictures of what they hear in the sermon. Prepare them for the upcoming service by praying and reviewing the songs and scriptures they will hear on Sunday.
What’s the music like?
Redeemer’s vision is to encourage and reflect diversity in our worship styles. You will hear many genres of music that are biblically sound, joyful, and worshipping Jesus.
What’s the preaching like?
We believe in preaching the Bible and applying the gospel to all of life. The Bible is God’s story of grace to sinners and his redeeming of all things in Jesus! We want to celebrate and live out this gospel in all of our preaching and teaching.
